Mission, aims and scope of the journal
"Gdańsk Legal Studies" is a scientific journal of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk which has been published since 1996.
The mission of the journal is promotion of research achievements and findings in the area of legal studies through offering the international scientific community a platform for debate and exchange of knowledge on subjects of significant and global importance for the development of law.
The chief aims of the journal include:
- presenting the latest research in the area of legal studies, as well as building a platform for critical analysis of the related findings,
- ensuring flow of knowledge between the spheres of theory and practice by creating a field for collaboration for theorists and practitioners, enabling them to tackle problems of importance for legal studies,
- supporting the development of legal studies by ensuring that representatives of the scientific community (both authors and readers) can participate in the international circulation of scientific literature,
- integrating domestic and international scientific communities, in particular enhancing international collaboration in scientific research into law.
The journal is addressed both to representatives of the scientific community as well as individuals involved in the broadly understood sphere of law practice, i.e. law practitioners and public officials.
Since 2020, the journal has been publishing theme issues under scientific supervision of scholars who specialise in a given research area. Thus, the journal intends to ensure that readers have access to up-to-date and highly substantive content. The editorial plan, taking into account the subject range of individual issues, is published on the journal's website in sufficient advance along with information about calls for articles.
