The Analysis of Humour in the Neo-Štokavian Ikavian Dialects of Vrpolje, Kninsko Polje and the Settlement of Knin Within the city of Knin in Kninska Krajina

Abstract

By analysis carried on oral literary genres (comparisons and fixed expressions, everyday humour, swearings, proverbs, rhymes, mockeries, riddles, oral songs, jokes and anecdotes) it has been established that the humour of the Neo-Štokavian Ikavian dialects of Vrpolje, Kninsko Polje and the settlement of Knin is good, clever, direct, cynical and vulgar. To note are its long dialogues and peculiarities in jokes and/or anecdotes, most prominently, the stories about local troublemakers and some "crazy" inhabitants of Vrpolje.
