Tutoring is an educational method involving regular meetings between the tutor and the student (the tutee). In tutorials, the tutor adjusts the path of tutee development within the areas of knowledge and skills. The purpose of this article is to present the tutoring practice of academic teachers at the University of Gdańsk through the characteristics of a group of tutors, detailing the effects of tutoring work, and showing the issues covered in the tutorials. A research hypothesis was put forward that among a large group of UG tutors there is a variety of methods, achieved effects and issues of interest to students. The article's aim was achieved by a survey addressed to tutors from the UG Tutor Database (100 people) and interviews with three tutors. The analyzed group of tutors (52 people) is an experienced group of academic teachers teaching for over 10 years. The largest group (23 people) are people with 20 years of teaching experience. Half of the respondents have been tutoring for 1 to 5 years. According to the respondents' declarations, the majority conduct scientific tutoring with developmental elements (31), then scientific tutoring (24), and only 7 people conduct only developmental tutoring. Tutoring is a method that benefits students (publications, projects, presentations, finding passion, change of development) and teachers (new research topics, continuous development, preventing job burnout). It is a method that changes the University of Gdańsk.
